SENIOR METALLURGICAL ENGINEER

This position performs tasks and projects in support of the development and implementation of new alloys and manufacturing technologies. This individual must be able to both manage projects in teams and be a principle project investigator.  Coordination between Operations, Marketing, and Technology is a key responsibility and includes the monitor and support of new products and processes.  Customer support responsibilities include both visits to the customer and project support for specific customers’ needs.  Lean Sigma tools are used for all projects following appropriate safety and ethical guidelines.

DIRECTOR RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT

Support the company business by applying best practices, scientific evaluations, and delivering technologically advanced solutions focused on improved manufacturing capabilities. Review and evaluate all current manufacturing operations and develop improvement strategy to incorporate advanced, more effective and efficient manufacturing methods. Provide technical mentoring across the organization to further develop the technical skill set of the engineering organization. Develop and direct technical R&D engineering staff to prioritize and guide various research and development projects to completion. Evaluate business cases for implementation of advanced manufacturing techniques including the evaluation and specification of capital equipment needs focused on quality improvement, scrap reduction and improved cost structure.

Provide leadership, direction, and technical guidance to establish and drive R&D projects that directly improve the manufacturability of existing products through scrap reduction, improvement efficiencies and lower costs. Direct any/all external industry and/or academic partnerships to exploit technical expertise to accelerate company manufacturing advancement.

Identify and implement manufacturing process improvements that provide measurable cost reductions, realized on factory P&L's, or direct product costs.

Work with company’s leaders (Manufacturing, Product Design, New Product Engineering, and Supply Chain) to develop new materials and manufacturing methods opportunities.

Support the Manufacturing and Engineering processes by applying scientific / quantitative solutions focused on improved manufacturability across all company’s factories.

 PRODUCT ENGINEER

The Product Engineer will be responsible for the process capability and technical support of titanium, iron, and nickel alloys. They will act as the technical liaison with customers to define current and future needs and develop forging, rolling, and heat treatment practices to provide the industry with bar, billet and slab products.  Successful Product Engineers utilize lean manufacturing and statistical tools to identify key process parameters, increase yields, and reduce overall cost and cycle time.

ALLOY DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER (ALUMINUM)

Design and development of heat treatable alloys for sheet and plate products. Research new and existing materials and processes for potential improvements to product line. Design and development of new sheet and plate products. Research influence of processing such as casting, rolling, heat treatment, and aging on aluminum alloys.  Recommend enhancements to processes as required. Design and complete experiments using lab and production processing equipment. Develop, define, and complete on-time assigned research & development chartered projects. Support plant projects as directed. Write technical reports summarizing work as well as presentations to peers on progress at continuous improvement meetings. Perform field sampling and analysis of aluminum products. Work in cross-functional teams to develop process and production improvements. 5S of assigned areas of the laboratory

APPLICATIONS ENGINEER (ALUMINUM)

The Applications Engineer will be responsible for determining new market needs for extruded products and working with a team of Process Development Engineers to determine engineered solutions to meet these needs. Once the new products are developed, the candidate will validate performance in the market place and provide vital information for continuous improvement. The Applications Engineer will also lead continuous improvement projects at the manufacturing locations targeting increased customer satisfaction and consistent performance of extruded products.

PROCESS DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER (ALUMINUM)

The Process Development Engineer will be responsible for the development of direct chill casting and extrusion related process development for increased productivity, production of new alloys, and the introduction of new products. This will entail casting practice development, extrusion practice development, determination of the viability of new processes, and validation of performance in both developmental and production scale introductions.

RESEACH & DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER (ALUMINUM)

Developing, defining and completing on time the assigned Research & Development chartered projects. Interact with the Alloy Development, Application engineers and the Manufacturing or Process engineers to collaborate on and complete prioritized tasks and initiatives. Develop a good understanding of processing information for casting, rolling, Heat treatment, and aging of aluminum alloys. Write technical reports summarizing work as well as presentations to peers on progress at meetings. Research new and existing materials and processes for potential improvements to product line. Design experiments using Lab, Center for Excellence and production processing equipment Analyze experimental results and make recommendations based on analysis. Research equipment designs and capabilities.  Initiate and implement upgrades to equipment as required.  Prepare specifications for equipment and testing. Perform field sampling and analysis of aluminum products. Work in cross-functional teams to develop process and production improvements. 5S of assigned areas of the laboratory.

METALLURGICAL ENGINEER

Company is seeking a self-directed Metallurgical Engineer to support extrusion and tube drawing operations.  This individual will be responsible for the development, management, and implementation of quality improvement projects. Additional responsibilities include focusing on improvements to the quality system in accordance with customer requirements and corporate quality criteria, and the support of Production functions.

RESEARCH ENGINEER (TITANIUM)

The R&D Engineer involves a wide variety of activities ranging from alloy development, heat treatment-structure-properties development, process development, process modeling and simulation and close interaction with customers and internal plant engineers to develop new products and applications.  A strong multidisciplinary team, the majority with advanced degrees, and supported by our pilot manufacturing facility, creates a stimulating environment for development.

PROCESS METALLURGIST

Provide cross-functional technical service and process & product metallurgy support for forge and melt shop operations and products, providing continuous improvement of quality and consistency of manufacturing, inspection and testing processes in order to provide consistently high quality products at the most effective cost and cycle times.

PROCESS METALLURGIST

As Process Metallurgist, your responsibilities will include providing technical support to both Primary and Rolling Operations, with emphasis on process and product improvement projects to enhance productivity, improve quality and reduce costs. Will plan and execute process and production enhancement trials based on performance analysis.
